MOMMY & ME FASHION
January 29, 2016 • SHOP
Matching Everly is quite possibly my favorite thing ever. I know she won't let me get away with this forever. So I'm soaking it up while I can.
I love the comfort of Fall boots, sweaters and leggings as much as anyone. But it eventually lands me in sweatpants and Chad's oversized pullovers for the last half of winter. I am drooling over all the new Spring fashion. Shift dresses are my go-to's during the warmer seasons. And the idea of Spring being right around the corner has me itching to brighten up our wardrobes. The pinks and purples are just the pick-me-up's we need to get out of our winter funk.
When I saw those lace-up baby flats on Old Navy's website I about died. I have the Momma pair shown above and would absolutely love to get Everly the mini version. And those purple dresses?! I'm thinking they could be Easter Sunday options.
It's supposed to be in the sixties this weekend! The first taste of Spring and we have all kinds of plans to soak it up. Hope you all have a great one!
WEEKEND RECAP
January 26, 2016 • MOTHERHOOD
After Christmas, family vacation, moving, and several snow days life has been busy to say the least. I told Chad I was in desperate need for a date night, just him and I. We have been out several times without Everly. But it's always with friends or family or to some sort of networking event. I couldn't remember the last time him and I had been on a date alone. So Nana stepped in to save the day. Saturday night Everly got to spend the evening with Nana while Chad and I went out to dinner and a movie. He made reservations at one of our favorite restaurants, The Miller House. And I couldn't even tell you the last movie I saw in theatres. Goodness had it really been that long? Time slips right on by I tell you. Chad even left his phone in the car the entire night. It was just what I needed.
Sunday we devoted the day to Everly. She was getting stir crazy and I had a bad feeling the neighbors beneath us were beginning to hate us. So we got her out of the apartment and took a trip downtown to the museum. It was the first time all three of us had ever been. The indoor play area is well worth the $3 adult tickets if you have little ones. We stayed for almost two hours letting Everly take all the time she needed to burn off steam. We kept asking her if she was ready to go home and every time we got a "no", while shaking her head and taking off running. I turned to Chad and shrugged my shoulders. At least we were getting our $6 worth. Finally after almost two hours of running around and sliding down slides Everly responded yes.
Before we headed home we decided to stop by Baskin Robbins. Chad and I both shared our different flavors with Everly trying to see what she liked best. Surprisingly she wasn't really into the ice cream after a few bites of each.
Our plan worked, because as soon as we got home we put on our pajamas and Everly crashed after a couple of FaceTime calls with her aunts. She napped for over two hours, long enough for Chad and I to watch another movie. It was almost like two dates in a row!
That arm rest is her favorite spot in the whole house. Chillin' like a villain.
I am looking forward to next weekend. The temperature is supposed to get up to almost 60! An early taste of Spring hopefully. We will definitely take advantage of that. I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!
APARTMENT LIFE
January 21, 2016 • OUR HOME
We have been living in our new apartment for a few weeks now and although it was a bit of an adjustment, we love our new space. My favorites are the tall ceilings and all the natural light that comes through. It doesn't feel so apartment-y. The kitchen, living room and dining are one big open space.
The living room is pretty bare. I have plans for a gallery wall above the couch. And we have a TV mounted on the opposite wall that really needs a media table under it. The space could also use a rug and of course a coffee table. But we don't want to invest too much in this space since we are hoping to begin building within the next couple of years. I think Everly really enjoys the extra space to run around anyway. And our new house is where we really want to invest our money. But at the same time I want to make the apartment somewhat homey since we will be here for a while. Oh the internal debate.
The kitchen is another favorite of mine. I love the floors, countertop and backsplash. Although the dishwasher doesn't open all the way. It runs into the bottom handle of the oven. That's kind of a pain. But I can deal with it for a year or two. The dining space is to the left of the picture below. It's just an empty space right now so it's not pictured. We sold our kitchen table last year when we moved into my mom's house. So that is on our to-buy list. I'm thinking IKEA may be our best bet for inexpensive furniture. Hopefully I can talk Chad into making a little road trip.
The bedrooms are good sizes and have great closet space. Everly's is probably the only room in the whole place completely finished.
We still need curtains in our bedroom. And prints need to be hung. We are also considering installing a ceiling fan/light. It's a pain to have to find your way to the lamps and turn all of them on at night.
I didn't take pictures of our bathrooms but they are huge! The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the apartment too which is nice. We even have a small porch you can see a little bit of through the right window above. We will really enjoy that this spring. Overall we really love the space and have settled in nicely. Everly seems to love it too which is the most important thing. We are looking forward to the year ahead and are happy with our new apartment life.
PAJAMAS IN JANUARY
January 20, 2016 • SHOP
This freezing cold weather has us cooped up inside on days we aren't working. Snuggled up on the couch refusing to get out of our pajamas are how we spend most of our weekends these days. With that being said, I already have a slight obsession with baby pajamas. The winter just brings out the best of it. Everly has worn two piece pajamas ever since she was nine months old. I put a onesie on her around Christmas time and she walked around so awkwardly, looking uncomfortable and constantly grabbing at the zipper. So we have put the onesies away for good. In addition to that, Everly has recently hit a growth spurt. I swear the girl completely skipped size 18-24 months and went straight into 2T. She has outgrown almost all of her pants, shoes, and pajamas. We put a pair of pajamas on her the other night that I swear she just wore last weekend, and her sweet little belly was hanging out of the bottom of her shirt. I couldn't help but giggle, and immediately begin online shopping for some toddler sized jammies. Which leads me to these... The absolute cutest pajamas that I may just send Everly to daycare in and never force her to get dressed.
Bunny pajamas, Dance pajamas, yellow and pink stripe, blue chick pajamas, blue stripe, magic dreams, sleep in, black hearts, love pajamas, purple stripe, hanna andersson, slippers
I love Gap and Old Navy. We get almost all of Everly's pajamas there. JCrew always has super cute pajamas too. And even though Crewcuts sizes start at 2T, their items run small. Everly has been wearing Crewcuts 2T's since she was 12 months. So order up if you buy anything for your toddler there. I have never purchased anything from Hanna Andersson but I absolutely love their pajamas. I see them all over social media and have always wanted to buy a pair for Everly. Of course I had to include a few Valentine's Day jammies. I also had to share a pair of the cutest toddler slippers ever. They even have a matching pair for Mommas! I have these and they are so comfortable.
We are currently under a winter storm warning. The high for today is 28 degrees and the ground is covered in almost three inches of fresh snow. I believe the weather man is calling for more on Friday. So I am looking forward to lots of pajama days.
Hope you all have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

SWEETHEART STYLE
January 14, 2016 • SHOP
Valentine's Day is only a month away and I am loving all the red and pink popping up in all the stores around town. It brightens up these gloomy winter days. And who doesn't love celebrating love?! I am all for dedicating a day (or in my case several weeks) for red roses and pink hearts. It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, especially with little ones. So I always enjoy taking a day during the gloomiest time of the year to shower loved ones with X's and O's. Plus it gives me a good excuse to decorate the toddler and the apartment in pink and red! Speaking of which, have you all seen the selection at Target?! Or Gap?!
cord dress, kisses beanie, sunglasses, cord one-piece, striped tee,
hearts beanie, ruffle one-piece, peplum sweater, moccasins, pink tunic,
heart sweater, red striped tights, multi-heart one-piece, heart sweatshirt, grey striped tights

Here is a round up of some of the outfits that give me all the heart eye emoji's. And if you use code HAPPY, Gap is having a 40% off sale! The only time I ever buy from Gap and Old Navy. I probably could have created three inspiration boards with all the adorable outfits out there. If I had a six month old baby, that grey one-piece would be mine in a heartbeat. And how adorable are those heart shaped sunglasses?! I am snatching those up for Everly's little Valentine's Day basket. But something I am most excited about- these Olive You raglan tees! And they have a matching one for Momma too! I love SaSeaDecor's tee's.
Target's Valentine's Day section is definitely something you need to check out as well. I picked up this adorable bowl out of the dollar section.
I almost bought a matching mug but decided last minute to put it back since I'm not a coffee drinker and it probably wouldn't get much use. If we had a mantle, these string lights would be perfect. I also found several little gems in the dollar section that I am going to put together for a little Valentine's Day surprise for Everly.

And of course we have plans for lots of pink, red, and heart shaped goodies to bake along the way. My mom gave me a KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas and I am anxious to put it to good use. I always try to do something creative and special for Chad every year. One year I sent him on a scavenger hunt around town collecting little gifts along the way. So my wheels are turning trying to top that one. Please share with me if you all have any good ideas for your husbands!
And since today was the first day of many Valentine's Day festive outfits, here was my little Valentine this morning before daycare...
Daddy was behind me trying to get her to smile for me. This is her whining leave-me-alone-daddy face. I hope you all are having a great week and staying warm!
GATLINBURG GETAWAY
January 10, 2016 • TRAVEL
For the last four years my mom has taken our family on a Christmas vacation in lieu of buying a ton of gifts. Now that we are all grown and spread across the state I am especially appreciative of my mom doing this for us. It is so nice to spend a week with everyone as one big family again.
This year we spent the week after Christmas in Gatlinburg, TN and it was amazing. Mom rented a cabin at the very top of a mountain. The first two days the weather was absolutely perfect. We went exploring outside in shorts and tshirts and spent the majority of our time on the back porch listening to music, relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the beautiful view. We played cards, danced, ate a ton of good food and half the time didn't even get out of our pajamas. It was the perfect week.
We didn't get out much as we were having way too much fun hanging out at the cabin. But after a couple of days we did venture into town and visit the Ole Smokey Holler. We tasted all the moonshine flavors and Everly loved the music playing in the center of all the shops.
We also went for lunch at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, which was incredible. Their Christmas show and the food were so good. I highly recommend it if you're ever in the area. It's a 4-course feast followed by a show featuring music, comedy, live animals & pyrotechnics. Everly sat (almost) the entire time mesmerized by the music and horses.
Thank you Mom for such a fun vacation!
Since we've been home we have officially moved in to our new apartment. I will be updating you all on that progress soon. It's a brand new unit and we are loving our new space. I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!
FAREWELL 2015
January 4, 2016 • MOTHERHOOD
Happy New Year you all! Monday after all the holidays and our week long vacation was a rough one. Everly woke up crying this morning. I feel ya baby girl. She even ran away from me when I asked if she was ready to get dressed. Trust me Everly, I'd rather stay in my pajamas forever too. Now that we are back to reality. I wanted to take a minute to say farewell to one of the most incredible years of our lives. We celebrated many firsts, laughed until our bellies hurt, and danced more than we ever have before. This year was one for the books. Here are some of our favorite moments...
We moved into Nana's house and celebrated the New Year in the comfort of her home and with a 5 am wake up call.
I started a new career at Wendell Foster's Campus. In between jobs I took a week off just to spend time with these two.

Everly did a lot of partying at daycare.
And her hair finally grew long enough for her first ponytail.
Daddy took us out on a date for Everly's first Valentine's Day and got her first bouquet of flowers.
Blew out a ton of diapers and received several pictures like this from daycare.
In April we learned how to crawl and started baby-proofing the house.
Celebrated our first Easter as a family of three.
We celebrated Leslie's wedding day and walked her down the aisle.
In July we took our very first family vacation to the beach and Everly fearlessly walked right into the ocean. Our family also got to witness her beginning to walk during this trip.
Got rid of all the bottles and discovered new food.
Did some trick or treating.
Played in every park we saw.
